Former Karnataka CM S. M. Krishna was born on 1 May 1932, in Mandya district, Somanahli, Karnataka. He did his initial studies from Mysore College, later he took admission in Government Law College, Bangalore to study law and completed his law studies from there.
With Fulbright Scholarship he completed higher studies from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, USA) and George Washington University Law School (USA).

Political career of S. M. Krishan
Political Career:
S. M. Krishnan started his political career in 1962 with Praja Socialist Party, later joined Indian National Congress (INC).
His contribution and evolution in politics:
- s.m. Krishna held the Chief Minister post of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004.
He played the most important role in making Bangalore an IT hub.
He initiated digital reforms like Bhoomi and ESCOMS.
- S. M. Krishna also held the post of Governor of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008.
- The post of Foreign Minister was also on his shoulders from 2009 to 2012.
S. M. Krishna was also the one who strengthened India’s global economic and energy partnerships.
In 2017, he joined BJP after being upset with INC, due to which he was criticized a lot.
Contributions and Legacy
He also contributed to modernizing Karnataka’s infrastructure and governance.
He also represented the country by strengthening India’s foreign relations.
He also worked hard in the IT sector by promoting public-private partnerships.
Personal Life
S. M. Krishna married Prema Krishna on 29 April 1964. They have two daughters, Shambhavi and Malavika.
